Course Duration: 2 Days

Introduction

This course covers the core principle of Risk Based Thinking in a management system conforming to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. This session shall cover the strategic, tactical and operational risks of an organization quality and environmental management systems as per required by the ISO 9001 standard. Weaknesses in management of risks in administration, human resources, physical security aspects, outsourcing, production, QA, warehouse, suppliers, IT, finance, etc shall be discussed.

Program Objectives

By the end of the program, participants should be able to:
  • Understand the requirements of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 that are related to the context of the organization and risks and opportunities
  • Understand the methods of determining the context of the organization
  • Undrstand the methods of determining risks and opportunities
  • Understand how to set business, quality and/or environmental objectives of organization fits into risk management

Day 1

  • The intended outcomes of the ISO 9001 QMS and ISO 14001 EMS
  • An overview of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements related to risk management
  • Understand what is risk-based thinking
  • Overview of strategic planning (vision, mission, values)
  • Establish the context of the organization
  • Determining internal and external issues
  • Understanding and documenting the needs and expectations of interested parties
  • Documenting compliance obligations
  • Workshop & presentation

Day 2

  • Overview of the risk management methodology
  • Identifying risks and opprtunities
  • Analyzing risks
  • Evaluating risks (including risk matrix)
  • Determining risk controls
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of controls
  • Reviewing the effectiveness of action taken to address risks
  • Workshop & presentation
  • Q&A session
